Barren Hill
This land is located in Aksai Kazakh Autonomous County, Jiuquan City, and was discovered by chance along the route from Dunhuang to Haixi, Qinghai. From a distance, it resembles a pyramid standing in the vast Northwest, quietly towering over the desolate Gobi Desert, compelling one to stop and gaze. Far from the bustling highways, reaching this place requires either an off-road vehicle or a long trek on foot. During several filming expeditions, I passed through this area and attempted to reach it by off-road vehicle. However, the numerous ravines along the way forced me to rely on a drone for the shoot. The contrast between the hill's colors and the surrounding terrain is striking, and its prominent outline stands out in the desolation of the Gobi Desert, as if it were a mysterious relic, isolated from the world.
