Ursa Major Choir. LUMINA NOCTE

On December 27, the Ursa Major Choir will give a unique performance, “Lumina Nocte” ("Light in the Night"), featuring classical choral music from the 20th and 21st centuries, accompanied by a light show from a duo of media artists.
The venue is the magnificent St. Peter and Paul Apostles' Church. Time: 22:00.

During the Christmas season, regardless of our beliefs and aspirations, we all believe in miracles, don’t we? The festive Christmas atmosphere awakens childlike wonder and joy in each of us.

We are the Ursa Major Choir (the Big Dipper constellation). We love to dream, look at the starry sky and, of course, believe in miracles. Like the Star of Bethlehem, our guiding star is music. And our path is to share the joy and beauty of art.

Our new Christmas program "Lumina Nocte" ("Light in the Night") is a thoughtfully curated selection of various choral works from the 20th and 21st centuries with religious or philosophical-poetic texts: composers include Arvo Pärt, Francis Poulenc, John Tavener, Randall Thompson, Ēriks Ešenvalds.

We believe that great music can illuminate lives. But this time we have prepared something extra exclusively.

Julia Krivosheenko and Savva Mihaescu are media artists who also believe in miracles, and create magic! Their unique light show will accompany the choir's singing, seamlessly intertwining with the concert. Music will become light, and light will become music.

The concert venue deserves a special presentation: once again, the Catholic St. Peter and Paul Apostles' Church, a 19th-century building with an extraordinary interior, opens its doors to the Ursa Major, making our dreams come true.

Important: the concert “Lumina Nocte” starts at 22:00. Yes, that’s exactly it. After all, starlight is best seen in the darkness of night…
